Talk (in German):
Technical translating as a perspective for BA/MA students

This talk addresses students taking BA/MA classes in both English and a technical subject. Technical translating is a profession with great perspectives. In this growing market, the largest demand for translation services is in mechanical engineering, with second place going to software localization and IT content. The three important prerequisites for this profession are: language skills, technical knowledge, and translation techniques. The first two are taught in BA/MA classes. This talk will help you find out whether you would like to acquire the third. You will soon discover a fourth prerequisite: enthusiasm. Translation is understanding in progress, which the translator documents in an elegant, easily comprehensible target text. This talk will help you decide whether this type of creativity is for you.

Sorry, the slides are in German only.
